ETC cycling trip from Almelo (NL) to Tricastin (FR)

We are a team of 12 enthusiastic ETC colleagues from Almelo and Jülich: 11 cyclists and one support driver. Over seven days, we will cycle 1,071 km with 6,330 metres of ascents and descents, travelling from Almelo in the Netherlands to Tricastin in France.

This journey symbolises the completion of the first cascade, which is a vital step in the project delivery for the expansion of the uranium enrichment capacity for a major customer project. However, this journey is about more than just reaching our destination.

We are therefore dedicating this ride to a cause close to our hearts: raising awareness and funds for clinical cancer research. Cancer affects many of us, both personally and professionally, and we want to make a difference. This ride is a powerful expression of true ETC team spirit as we deliver cascades to our customers while standing together in solidarity for a greater cause.

From 6 to 12 September 2025, we will cycle through the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, and France. On 13 September, we will conclude the trip with a symbolic and challenging climb up Mont Ventoux, joined by fellow cyclists from ETC France and Orano.

The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) is a unique pan-European non-profit clinical cancer research organisation, founded in 1962. It designs and coordinates high-quality translational and clinical trials to improve cancer patients’ survival and quality of life across cancer types and treatment disciplines.

EORTC has the capacity to run large, complex clinical trials and places special focus on underserved patient groups, including adolescents, older adults, and patients with rare cancers, ensuring that no patient population is left behind.

The mission of the EORTC Cancer Research Fund (ECRF) is to promote, encourage, and support cancer research and treatment under the auspices of EORTC.
