One year has passed since the memorable 60th-anniversary celebration of the EORTC in Brussels. Looking back at the two days of celebratory events, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Honorary President HRH Princess Dina Mired of Jordan and HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco (immediate past Honorary President of the ECRF), our invaluable donors, steadfast partners, dedicated members of the EORTC network – past and present, and the esteemed ECRF Board, whose presence and support elevated our milestone celebration to unparalleled heights. 

A special commendation goes out to our generous donors, whose contributions during the gala dinner have made a substantial impact. Their unwavering support has enabled us to secure funding for a medical fellow for a year and partially cover the expenses of the EORTC PROLoNg clinical trial.  

The PROLoNg trial is the first multicentric, international effort to provide high-level evidence for a combined approach (medication + radiotherapy) to improve the treatment of head and neck cancer under an elaborate quality of life program and strict quality assurance for radiotherapy, empowered by the unique logistic infrastructure of the EORTC. These donations have facilitated significant progress, including site selection across multiple countries (BE, IT, SP and CH), the release of the clinical trial protocol, and ongoing preparations for regulatory submissions.
